Ashish Bansal Takes Charge as GM, NFR (Construction)

Guwahati: Ashish Bansal, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers from the 1989 UPSC batch, has assumed charge as the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction). Prior to this appointment, Bansal served as Principal Executive Director (Track Modernisation and Machines) in the Ministry of Railways from March 2023. As General Manager, he will oversee all railway construction activities across the N.F. Railway jurisdiction, covering the entire Northeast, Sikkim, and parts of West Bengal and Bihar.

Bansal brings over three decades of experience spanning track maintenance, bridge engineering, metro construction and policy formulation. He has served in key roles across multiple railway zones, including as Divisional Railway Manager of Dhanbad Division under East Central Railway, where the division achieved the highest freight loading and earnings.

He has also held the position of Chairman and Managing Director of IRCON International Limited. Known for driving track modernisation, his initiatives have strengthened rail infrastructure through advanced machinery, indigenous systems and improved maintenance practices, delivering long-term operational benefits to Indian Railways.
