Four youths injured in the firing incident at Ming Mang Bodoti village along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Dhemaji district are out of danger and receiving treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said.
Pegu said he contacted AMCH Superintendent Dr Dhrubajyoti Bhuyan to take stock of the condition of the injured youths and ensure that they receive necessary medical care.
Among those injured, Utpal Doley sustained an injury to his right eye and has shown improvement in his vision, the minister said. However, doctors have detected a metallic foreign body in the orbit, and he may require specialised treatment.
Pama Pegu, Utpal Doley and Bhaijan Doley, who suffered injuries to different parts of their bodies, are currently being treated by the hospital’s Department of Surgery and are undergoing the required surgical procedures, Pegu said.
The minister said he had asked the hospital authorities to provide all necessary treatment to the injured and was maintaining communication with officials to monitor their health.
The four youths were among villagers injured in the reported firing at Ming Mang Bodoti along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The incident had heightened tension in the area, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the firing.
