Assam CM Dr. Sarma Inaugurates New Campus of Bhattadev University at Bajali

Bajali: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday formally inaugurated the new campus of the heritage-rich Bhattadev University at Bajali, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of higher education infrastructure in Assam. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced a fresh grant of ₹65 crore to further strengthen and modernise higher education facilities at the university.

The newly inaugurated campus has been developed with an investment of ₹53 crore, aimed at expanding access to quality higher education and providing state-of-the-art academic infrastructure for students from Bajali and neighbouring regions. The campus is expected to play a key role in enhancing teaching, research and learning outcomes.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister Ranjeet Dass, Member of Parliament Phani Bhusan Choudhury, local MLA Phanidhar Talukdar, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Dhanpati Deka, along with senior government officials, academicians and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister underscored the state government’s commitment to strengthening public universities and preserving Assam’s rich academic and cultural heritage. He said that the additional grant would be utilised to further upgrade infrastructure, academic facilities and student amenities, enabling Bhattadev University to emerge as a leading centre of higher education in the state.

The inauguration of the new campus and the announcement of additional funding have been widely welcomed by the academic community and local residents, who see it as a major boost to educational development and opportunities for youth in the region.
