Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has voiced deep concern over the devastating landslides in West Bengal’s Darjeeling and the worsening flood situation in Sikkim, assuring that Assam stands ready to extend all possible help to both states in their time of crisis.
At least 24 people have lost their lives in Darjeeling after incessant rainfall triggered multiple landslides, burying homes and cutting off several hill areas. Rescue teams continued operations on Monday as several people remained missing and thousands of tourists were stranded.
