Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday emphasised the state government’s commitment to delivering justice in the case of singer Zubeen Garg. Speaking on the ongoing investigation, Sarma outlined the actions taken by the BJP led government and urged public appreciation for the prompt measures.
“We have put in a lot of hard work for the justice of Zubeen Garg. People are saying, ‘Give justice to Zubeen Garg.’ We are only giving justice to Zubeen,” he said, noting that five individuals — Syamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Shekhar Goswami, and Amritprava — have been arrested in connection with the case. “The people whom they suspected, we have arrested them all,” he added.

Sarma highlighted the speed and efficiency of the investigation, contrasting it with the record of opposition parties. “If appreciation is to be given for justice, the BJP government should be appreciated. Until today, whom has Congress given justice? But we have given justice immediately, and the process is ongoing, so we should be given credit,” he said.
The Chief Minister also addressed prior public speculation, asserting that initial doubts about arrests and the handling of the case had been dispelled. “Previously, it was said that bail would be taken, no arrest would be made, and Himanta Biswa Sarma is doing drama, but we have arrested them all,” he remarked.
Sarma further emphasised the state government’s overall support for the late singer, adding, “Until today, the BJP government has done so much for Zubeen Garg that if Congress were in power, even 10% of the work would not have been possible. No Union Minister came to pay tribute to the last rites of Bhupen Hazarika. There is no example in entire India of what the BJP government has done for Zubeen.”
