Assam CM Inaugurates New Cultural and Educational Facilities in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur: Lakhimpur celebrated a milestone in cultural and educational development as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed Sri Sri Badala Padma Ata Kalatirtha at Sri Sri Madhabdev Kalakshetra, Narayanpur. The ₹22-crore, 681-seater Kalatirtha boasts modern acoustics, advanced stage lighting, mechanised curtains, and a large LED screen, positioning it as a premier venue for performing arts, cultural events, and artistic gatherings. Officials expect the facility to serve as a vibrant hub, boosting the cultural profile of Lakhimpur district.

On the same day, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the new academic building at Madhabdev University, Narayanpur. The facility is aimed at providing enhanced learning spaces, improving infrastructure, and fostering a conducive academic environment for students. The twin inaugurations reflect the Assam government’s emphasis on integrated regional development, balancing cultural enrichment with educational growth. Residents and officials lauded the initiatives, noting their potential to benefit students, artists, and the local community.

Highlighting the vision behind these projects, CM Sarma said the state aims to create centres of excellence that nurture talent, preserve cultural heritage, and promote holistic development across Assam.
