Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi and extended an invitation to inaugurate two major development projects in the state — the new terminal of Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport and the ₹10,601-crore brownfield Ammonia-Urea complex at Namrup.
During the 20-minute meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister on the projects’ significance for Assam and the entire Northeast. The state-of-the-art LGBI Airport terminal, designed to handle over 1.3 crore passengers annually, is expected to transform Guwahati into a major aviation hub, improving regional air connectivity and easing growing air traffic demands.
The upcoming Namrup Ammonia-Urea complex is poised to play a vital role in ensuring a steady supply of fertilisers to the Northeast, thereby supporting the region’s agricultural productivity and rural economy.
