Assam Establishes Over 3,800 Model Anganwadi Centres, Says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening early childhood care and education by transforming Anganwadi Centres into modern learning spaces for young children.

Sharing the update on X, the Chief Minister said the government has been developing Model Anganwadi Centres to provide a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and receive quality care.

“For my little bhagins, only the very best,” Sarma wrote, highlighting the government’s emphasis on improving facilities for children across the state.

He said more than 3,800 Model Anganwadi Centres have already been established in Assam, with many more planned under the state’s ongoing child welfare and early childhood development initiatives.

The programme aims to modernise Anganwadi infrastructure while improving learning environments, nutrition, healthcare and overall child development, reinforcing the government’s efforts to build a strong foundation for future generations.
