Guwahati: The Assam Government has announced an extension of visiting hours at Zubeen Kshetra, the memorial of legendary singer Zubeen Garg, in response to requests from fans. The memorial will now remain open from 6 AM to 11 PM daily, with the additional hour coming into effect immediately.
The decision follows an appeal from the Zubeen Garg Fan Club, which had requested that the memorial be kept open until midnight. Although the government did not grant a full extension until 12 AM, the new visiting hours are expected to provide fans with more time to pay their respects to the beloved singer.
Authorities have emphasized that individuals under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substances are strictly prohibited from entering or remaining on the premises. The consumption, serving, or distribution of alcohol has also been strictly banned inside and around the memorial grounds. These measures were implemented in consultation with local residents and stakeholders to preserve the sanctity of the cremation ground, which has become a place of pilgrimage for admirers mourning the loss of the iconic artiste.
The District Magistrate’s office has urged all visitors to respect the guidelines and cooperate in maintaining a peaceful and dignified atmosphere at Zubeen Kshetra, where countless fans continue to pay tribute to the legendary singer.
