Guwahati, July 10: The Assam Government is set to present the 2026–27 State Budget in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, marking the first budget of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government since it returned to power for a second consecutive term.
Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah is scheduled to table the budget in the House at 11.45 am.
The budget is expected to outline the government’s fiscal priorities, development strategy and major policy initiatives for the current financial year.
It is also likely to feature key announcements relating to infrastructure, welfare schemes, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment and industrial development.
As the first budget of the BJP-led government’s second term, the document is expected to set the course for Assam’s development agenda over the coming years.
