Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya made an unprecedented visit to Dhemaji district on Thursday, marking the first time a sitting Governor has traveled to the area by train. The Governor boarded the Lachit Express in Guwahati and undertook the nearly four-hour journey to Murkongselek, alighting at Dhemaji Railway Station at 5:45 a.m. Upon his arrival, the Dhemaji district administration was on hand to extend a formal and warm welcome.
The visit quickly became a moment of connection for the Governor, who took the time to thank the local residents and pose for photographs with enthusiastic well-wishers present at the station. This notable train ride was significant as it broke a historical precedent for gubernatorial travel to the district.
Throughout the day, Governor Acharya maintained a busy itinerary focused on governance and development observation. His schedule included a key inspection of the Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner’s office and a visit to the crucial under-construction embankment along the Jiadhal river. The day culminated with the Governor engaging directly with the community by participating in a public meeting with local residents. This series of engagements highlighted the Governor’s dedication to personally reviewing ongoing development initiatives and fostering a direct connection with the people of Dhemaji.
