On the auspicious occasions of Kali Puja and Deepawali on Monday, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the state, urging them to celebrate with a dual focus on environmental responsibility and communal harmony.
In his message, Governor Acharya highlighted the profound spiritual essence of Kali Puja, characterizing it as a festival that inspires individuals to awaken their inner strength, enabling them to overcome fear and darkness. He passionately called upon all citizens to celebrate the festivals with a spirit of compassion, care, and togetherness. Furthermore, the Governor stated that Deepawali commemorates the triumph of truth, hope, and light, serving as an important reminder of the enduring power of righteousness and the notion that the “light of wisdom resides within each of us.” Separately, he shared his greetings for Kali Puja on social media, writing, “On the sacred occasion of #KaliPuja, may Maa Kali’s fierce energy destroy all evils and illuminate everyone’s path with divine power.”
Governor Acharya placed particular emphasis on the importance of eco-friendly celebrations, strongly encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable practices. He specifically called for measures to reduce noise and air pollution and to protect natural resources. He added, “A truly joyful Diwali is one that brings light not just to our homes, but also to the world around us. Let us celebrate in ways that honour both tradition and our responsibility to future generations.” Echoing a similar sentiment, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also conveyed his best wishes, encouraging the people of Assam to celebrate the festivals with joy, harmony, and environmental consciousness.
