DHUBRI, Sept 27: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on September 27 visited Dhubri to participate in the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Sankalp’ programme and reaffirm the call for a drug-free India under the nationwide campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As part of the programme, Acharya attended a public awareness meeting at the Dhubri District Library auditorium and interacted with local residents on the importance of combating drug abuse and building a drug-free society.
Following the meeting, the Governor led the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Sankalp Padyatra’ from the District Library to the Dhubri District Commissioner’s Office. A large number of students from local schools and colleges, representatives of social organisations and members of the public participated in the rally in support of the campaign.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage collective participation in preventing drug addiction.
Assam Cabinet Minister Ashwini Roy Sarkar, Bilasipara MLA Jibesh Roy, Dhubri Municipal Board Chairperson Dr Debamoy Sanyal and Dhubri-Gauripur Development Block Chairman Deepak Kumar Saha were among those who attended the programme.
The programme highlighted the importance of public awareness and community participation in addressing drug abuse and promoting a healthier, drug-free society.
