Assam Governor, Seychelles Envoy Discuss Tourism and Future Cooperation in Guwahati

Guwahati, May 17: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Saturday held discussions with Harisoa Lalatiana Accouche at Lok Bhavan in Guwahati, focusing on issues of mutual interest and exploring opportunities for future cooperation between Assam and Seychelles.

During the meeting, the Governor highlighted the similarities shared by Assam and Seychelles in terms of natural beauty, ecological wealth and biodiversity. He noted that while Seychelles is internationally recognised for its picturesque landscapes and unique ecosystems, Assam is equally known for its rich cultural traditions, scenic locations and diverse natural heritage.

Acharya also underlined Assam’s increasing potential as a destination for tourism and cultural engagement. He expressed hope that cultural exchange initiatives between Assam and Seychelles would contribute to stronger people-to-people connections and promote greater mutual understanding.

The Governor emphasised the importance of cooperation in areas including ecological conservation, sustainable tourism, education and skill development. He further welcomed the possibility of academic exchange initiatives and opportunities for students from Seychelles to pursue higher studies in institutions across Assam.

During the interaction, the Seychelles High Commissioner invited the Governor to visit Seychelles. Both sides also expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral engagement and building long-term cooperation in the years ahead.
