Guwahati: In a festive gesture ahead of Durga Puja, the Assam government has announced that salaries for September 2025 will be released in advance.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a post on X, said, “In view of the forthcoming Durga Puja, the State Government has decided to release the salary for September 2025 in advance. The Treasury will start receiving salary bills from tomorrow.”

The move comes as a relief for government employees across the state, allowing them to meet festive expenses smoothly. Treasury offices have been instructed to facilitate the process without delay.
Durga Puja, one of the biggest festivals in Assam and the entire northeast, will begin in early October this year, and the early release of salaries is expected to boost both household spending and local markets.
