Assam Govt Grants Special Leave for Delegates Attending 65th Bodo Sahitya Sabha Conference

The Assam government has approved special casual leave for state employees and teachers who will participate as official delegates in the 65th Annual Conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. The special leave will be valid on 9 and 10 January 2026, ahead of the three-day literary event scheduled from 9 to 11 January at Thengphakhri Fwthar, Bariaogaon in Bijni under Chirang district of the Bodoland Territorial Council.

The General Administration Department issued the order after receiving approval from the competent authority. The notification, digitally signed by Joint Secretary Bubul Gekiharu, underlined the state’s commitment to supporting one of the most significant cultural and literary gatherings of the Bodo community. The annual conference is widely recognised for its role in advancing Bodo language, literature and cultural heritage.

To ensure smooth implementation, the government circulated copies of the order to senior administrative officials, including the Chief Secretary, the Commissioner and Secretary of the GAD, all District and Co-District Commissioners, and Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil). The Office of the Chief Minister has also been informed, while the Director of Information and Public Relations has been instructed to publicise the decision extensively.

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha’s General Secretary has additionally been notified of the approval, following the organisation’s earlier request for government support to facilitate participation in the upcoming conference.
