Assam HSLC Result 2026 Declared: 65.62% Pass, Dima Hasao Tops District Rankings

Guwahati, April 10: The Assam State School Education Board on Friday announced the results of the HSLC Examination 2026, recording an overall pass percentage of 65.62 per cent. Out of 4,29,249 students who appeared for the examination, 2,81,701 candidates successfully cleared it.

The examinations were conducted between February 10 and 27, with results declared on April 10. While a total of 4,38,564 candidates had registered, 9,315 remained absent and 135 were expelled during the examination process. Additionally, five results have been withheld.

Of the candidates who appeared, 1,86,468 were male and 2,42,781 were female. Male candidates outperformed their female counterparts, recording a pass percentage of 67.78 per cent, compared to 63.96 per cent among female students.

In terms of performance divisions, 85,189 students secured first division, including 3,983 with distinction and 13,681 achieving star marks. A total of 1,50,167 candidates passed in second division, while 46,345 students were placed in the third division. Furthermore, 99,062 candidates earned letter marks in different subjects.

Among districts, Dima Hasao emerged as the top performer with a pass percentage of 88.23 per cent, followed by Sivasagar at 84.08 per cent and Dibrugarh at 78.46 per cent. Cachar recorded the lowest pass percentage at 49.13 per cent.

Category-wise data showed that ST (P) candidates achieved the highest pass percentage at 73.65 per cent, followed by OBC candidates at 71.65 per cent and MOBC candidates at 70.94 per cent. Tea Tribe candidates registered the lowest success rate at 50.51 per cent.

In the merit list, Jyotirmay Das from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Patacharkuchi in Bajali district secured the top position. Other top rank holders included Akankha Bhuyan from Ambikagiri Rai Choudhuri Jatiya Vidyalaya in Biswanath, Jia Farah Islam from Little Flower HS School in Dibrugarh, and Surjit Akhtar from Little Flowers School in Nalbari.

The announcement marks a major academic milestone for lakhs of students across the state, reflecting their performance in one of Assam’s most significant school-level examinations.
