Assam Implementing 58 Urban Infrastructure Projects Under AMRUT 2.0: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, May 23: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 23 said the state is carrying out a major urban infrastructure expansion under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, with 58 projects being implemented at an investment of more than ₹861 crore.

Sharing details on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the initiative is intended to strengthen urban infrastructure and improve living standards in towns and cities across Assam.

“A stronger urban Assam is taking shape,” Sarma said, adding that the projects focus on improving water supply systems, sewerage infrastructure and the restoration of water bodies.

According to the Chief Minister, the projects are aimed at expanding access to clean drinking water, strengthening sanitation systems and developing infrastructure capable of meeting the increasing demands of growing urban populations.

The state government said the programme forms part of a broader effort to promote planned urban development and create sustainable civic infrastructure across Assam.

Under the AMRUT 2.0 programme, authorities are prioritising cleaner urban environments, improved public utilities and modern civic services in multiple towns throughout the state.
