Kamrup Police recovered 24 kg of suspected opium valued at around Rs 1.6 crore and apprehended one person as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared details of the seizure on X and praised the state police for the anti-narcotics operation.
“Continuing our crackdown on the drug network, Kamrup Police recovered 24 kg of suspected opium worth around Rs 1.6 crore. One person has been apprehended and further investigation is underway. Good work Assam Police,” Sarma said in his post.
Further investigation is underway to trace the wider links of the suspected drug network and identify other individuals who may be involved.
The operation forms part of Assam Police’s continuing campaign against narcotics trafficking under the #AssamAgainstDrugs initiative.
