Itanagar, April 27: A man from Assam has been missing in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh for the past three months, with his family alleging possible human trafficking and accusing an acquaintance of involvement in his disappearance.
The missing individual, identified as Manik Das, a resident of Gohpur, was reportedly taken to Bomdila by Sujit Nayak. According to family members, Nayak had assured Das of arranging employment, which led him to travel to the hill town.
Since then, there has been no contact or trace of Das, prompting growing concern among his relatives. The family alleged that when approached for information, Nayak failed to provide a clear explanation regarding Das’s whereabouts and reportedly issued threats when questioned further.
A formal complaint has been lodged with the police, but no significant breakthrough has been reported so far.
Family members have expressed suspicion that Das may have been trafficked and possibly sold in Arunachal Pradesh in exchange for money. They have urged authorities to intensify the investigation and locate him at the earliest.
Police have not issued an official statement on the allegations, and the probe is understood to be ongoing.
