The death of a 42-year-old man from Assam’s Cachar district in Tamil Nadu has left his family seeking answers, with the circumstances surrounding his death yet to be established.
Harich Ali, a resident of Channighat Gaon Panchayat under the Dholai Assembly constituency, had travelled to Tamil Nadu in search of employment. He was found hanging at around 11 pm on October 3, according to family sources.
Police were alerted after the incident and reached the location before recovering the body. It was sent for a post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.
The family has said it is awaiting the post-mortem report and police findings to establish the exact cause and circumstances of Ali’s death. It is also seeking clarity on whether the death was a case of suicide or whether other factors were involved.
A written FIR has been submitted by the family at Lailapur Outpost, seeking an investigation into the circumstances of the death.
The family is now waiting for the post-mortem findings and the outcome of the police inquiry, which are expected to shed light on what led to Ali’s death.
Meanwhile, the family has appealed to the authorities for government assistance to transport his body from Tamil Nadu to his native village in Cachar for the final rites.
