Assam Police, BSF Foil Fresh Infiltration Attempt Along International Border, Says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, May 16: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 15 said security agencies deployed along the international border remain on high alert and recently prevented a group of 14 alleged illegal infiltrators from entering India.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the individuals were identified and intercepted by personnel of the Assam Police and the Border Security Force before they could cross into the country.

“Our forces are highly alert on the border and thwarting infiltration attempts. A group of 14 illegals were identified and prevented from entering into India by brave jawans of Assam Police and BSF,” Sarma stated.

He further said that the state would continue to maintain vigilance and take action against infiltration attempts, using the hashtag “#AssamAgainstInfiltrators”.

The latest statement came a day after Sarma had said that Assam Police and BSF personnel had similarly intercepted 12 alleged infiltrators on May 14 and prevented them from entering Assam.

The Chief Minister’s remarks indicate continued surveillance and intensified security measures along the border amid efforts to curb illegal entry into the state.
