The Chief Minister assured that the investigation remains ongoing and that all those responsible will be held accountable under the law.

In a related development, Deepak Medhi, a young man who sustained bullet injuries during the protests outside Baksa District Jail in Nikashi, has successfully undergone surgery at AIIMS, Changsari, and is now out of danger. Medhi, who was shot in the back during the unrest, was admitted to AIIMS and is currently under observation. Doctors confirmed that his condition is stable following the successful surgery.

The incident occurred as supporters of Zubeen Garg gathered outside the jail to protest the transfer of Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma, accused in the singer’s mysterious death, under heavy police security. The protests escalated, resulting in Medhi being injured by police gunfire.

Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, following an invitation from Chief Minister Sarma, visited AIIMS to meet Medhi and check on his health. Dass confirmed that the Assam government will cover all medical expenses for the youth and extended wishes for his speedy recovery.
