Guwahati, Feb 15: In a major anti-drug operation, Assam Police seized 1,10,000 Yaba tablets under Dholai Police Station in Cachar district, intercepting a truck and apprehending two individuals in connection with the case.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the development on X, praising the efforts of the police personnel. In his post, he wrote:
“Not all pills cure, some lure —
and we ensure, they don’t endure.
1,10,000 Yaba tablets seized under Dholai PS. One truck intercepted, two apprehended. Kudos to @assampolice and Dholai Police. #AssamAgainstDrugs.”
Officials said the narcotics consignment was recovered during a targeted operation conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs. Yaba tablets, which contain methamphetamine, are classified as a highly addictive synthetic drug and are often trafficked across state and international borders.
The seizure forms part of the state government’s intensified crackdown on narcotics under the ongoing #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign. The Chief Minister has consistently reiterated a zero-tolerance approach toward drug trafficking, with multiple large-scale seizures and arrests carried out across Assam in recent years.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the consignment.
