Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 11 Crore in Major Crackdown Across Karbi Anglong and Cachar

Assam Police carried out a sweeping anti-narcotics operation across Karbi Anglong and Cachar districts on Friday, seizing drugs valued at ₹11 crore and arresting several suspected peddlers. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development, calling it a significant strike against the state’s illegal drug networks.

In a post on X, Sarma said the crackdown demonstrated the police force’s relentless pursuit of traffickers. He described the coordinated action—from Karbi Anglong to Silchar—as another example of the state’s intensified war on drugs, adding that peddlers are “having a run for their money” as law enforcement continues to disrupt trafficking routes.

The latest haul underscores growing concerns over narcotics circulation in Assam, where both urban centres and remote areas have witnessed increased drug-related activities in recent years. Officials involved in the operation said the police acted on specific intelligence inputs, enabling them to move swiftly and arrest those linked to the trafficking chain.

Authorities emphasised that such operations will continue as part of the government’s sustained effort to dismantle drug networks and curb the spread of narcotics across the state.
