Assam Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 3 Crore in Major Drug Bust at Amingaon

Guwahati, March 25: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) and Kamrup Police intercepted a heroin consignment at Amingaon, officials reported. Acting on intelligence inputs, the joint team stopped a Maruti Ertiga (AS 01 BQ-5651) and recovered 25 soap boxes containing heroin, with a total weight of approximately 350 grams. The contraband, ingeniously concealed within the vehicle’s door panels, is estimated to have a street value of around Rs 3 crore.

Two individuals from Manipur’s Churachandpur district were apprehended in connection with the seizure. They have been identified as Lamminthang Haokip (29) of M Songgel village and Ginkglholal Haokip (31) of Tuila village, both falling under Tuibong Police Station jurisdiction.

The operation was led by Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF, who supervised the interception and seizure. Authorities confirmed that legal action has been initiated against the accused, while investigations continue to determine the origin and intended destination of the narcotics consignment.
