Assam pushed back sixteen infiltrators, including ten Rohingya and six Bangladeshi nationals, in the early hours of Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. He confirmed that the operation was carried out around 12:30 am through Gate 39 and described the process in a post on X.
Calling it “another smooth operation,” Sarma compared the precision of the pushback to a scene from Mission Impossible, adding that the state’s security network remained fully alert and its borders secure. He also remarked that “no multiverse anomaly” had been found, extending his reference to popular Hollywood films.
Sarma did not specify the district from which the individuals were intercepted before being moved to the border gate. The Assam government has been tightening measures against illegal immigration from Bangladesh, frequently pushing back people found to have entered the state without valid documents.
