Assam Regiment’s 119 TA Battalion Hosts ‘Atoot Bandhan’

Silchar: In a heartfelt celebration of service, sacrifice, and camaraderie, the 119 Territorial Army (TA) Battalion of the Assam Regiment organised a special outreach programme under its flagship initiative, ‘Atoot Bandhan’ (Unbreakable Bond), in Silchar, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of veterans.

Central to the programme was a grand Barakhana, a traditional regimental feast, which saw nearly 60 ex-servicemen from across the district in attendance. The event provided an opportunity for serving officers and troops to engage with veterans, listen to their experiences, share memories, and honour their contributions to the regiment and the nation’s security.

The atmosphere was marked by warmth and mutual respect, with veterans expressing gratitude for the Assam Regiment’s gesture and emphasising the enduring bond they share with the unit.

A serving officer highlighted the significance of the initiative, saying, “The ‘Atoot Bandhan’ initiative is a cornerstone of our regimental ethos. It is both our duty and privilege to ensure that the bond with our veterans remains strong. Their service paved the way for us, and their welfare will always remain our priority.”

The successful programme in Silchar underscores the Assam Regiment’s ongoing efforts to honour, support, and maintain close ties with its retired personnel across the region.
