GUWAHATI, Aug 7: The Assam government on Friday ordered a major reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring and promoting several senior IPS and APS officers to key positions, including Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, Senior Superintendent of Police and other leadership posts.
Under the new postings, Ratna Singha was allowed to officiate as Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), while Bijoy Giri Kuligam was posted as Inspector General of Police (BTAD), Kokrajhar. Kangkan Jyoti Saikia was transferred as Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range), Jorhat, and Prasama Sagar Changmai was appointed Inspector General of Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Assam.
At the DIG level, Dr Robin Kumar was allowed to officiate as Deputy Inspector General of Police (MPC) while continuing as DIG (AP). Gautam Borah was posted as DIG (Border), Amrit Bhuyan as DIG (Special Branch), Sudhakar Singh as DIG (North Eastern Range), Tinsukia, Ranjan Bhuyan as DIG (Security), Pranabjyoti Goswami as DIG (Administration), Rajen Singh as DIG (Central Range/Hills Range), and Y.T. Gyatso as DIG (Western Range).
The reshuffle also brought changes in district police leadership. Partha Protim Das was posted as Senior Superintendent of Police, Cachar, while Veera Venkata Rakesh Reddy became SSP, Nagaon. Sarmistha Barua was appointed SSP, Darrang, Ashif Ahmed SSP, Biswanath, Nirupam Hazarika SSP, Hojai, Nishant Saurabh SSP, Morigaon, and Prakash Sonowal SSP, Dhemaji.
Among other appointments, Mohan Lal Meena was posted as Director of the Directorate of Forensic Science, Swapnaneel Deka as SSP, Golaghat, Sanjib Kumar Saikia as Commandant of the 20th Assam Police Battalion at Panbari, and Jyoti Ranjan Nath as Commandant of the 10th Assam Police Battalion at Kahilipara.
Several officers of the 2021 IPS batch were also assigned charge posts. Nitisha Sanjay Jagtap was posted as SSP (State Crime Record Bureau), CID, Rajat Kumar Pal as AIGP (AP), Dergaon, Atul Kumar as AIGP (Welfare) and Staff Officer to the DGP, Mahato Amitkumar Sidhiprasad as DCP (Border), Guwahati, Aman Prakash Meena as SSP, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell-C, and Desai Tushar Uttam as SSP (Cyber Crime-II), CID.
The Home and Political Department stated that the transfers and promotions had been made in the interest of public service and would take effect from the date the officers assumed charge.
