Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika chaired a review meeting with officials of the Agriculture Department to assess preparations for the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF) programme scheduled to be held in Guwahati on July 18.
The event will be attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and is expected to witness the participation of more than 5,000 farmers from different parts of the state.
During the meeting, Hazarika reviewed logistical arrangements and discussed steps to ensure the smooth implementation of the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund scheme.
The deliberations focused on improving access to institutional finance for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs through the AIF initiative. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to a 3 per cent interest subvention for creating, expanding and strengthening post-harvest management facilities and agricultural infrastructure.
The programme is aimed at encouraging investment in rural agricultural infrastructure, strengthening value chains and creating better income opportunities for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs across Assam.
