Assam Rifles Conducts Tree Plantation Drive in Tinsukia to Promote Environmental Conservation

Tinsukia, June 1: Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive at Jagun in Assam’s Tinsukia district on June 1 as part of its efforts to promote environmental awareness and encourage community participation in conservation initiatives.

The programme brought together Assam Rifles personnel and local residents, who actively participated in planting saplings across the area to support environmental protection and long-term ecological sustainability.

A total of 150 people joined the initiative, including ex-servicemen, officials from the Forest Department, members of the Assam Gorkha Students Union, school students and local residents. The collective effort aimed to highlight the importance of preserving natural resources and maintaining ecological balance.

During the programme, participants were encouraged to play an active role in safeguarding the environment and contribute towards building a greener and healthier future through sustained community action.

The plantation drive received appreciation from local residents and served as a platform to strengthen ties between the security forces and the civilian population. The initiative also underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.

Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to community welfare and environmental conservation, stating that such outreach programmes would continue to foster awareness and encourage public participation in protecting the environment.
