Assam Rifles women crowned police football champions

Biswanath Chariali: The Assam Rifles Women’s Football Team etched their name in glory by emerging as Champions of the 74th B N Mullick Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2025–26, held at Hyderabad, Telangana, from 23 March 2026 to 05 April 2026. 

The prestigious tournament witnessed participation from nine elite teams divided into two groups. Group A – SSB, Jharkhand Police, CISF, CRPF & Group B -Assam Rifles, Odisha Police, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra. In a thrilling final match played on 04 April 2026, the Assam Rifles Women’s Team defeated Odisha Police 1–0, displaying exceptional composure, tactical superiority and indomitable spirit to clinch the title. The prize distribution ceremony was held late on 05 April 26.

The team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, delivering commanding performances in the league stages against strong opponents including Manipur, Odisha, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, before advancing to the knockout stages and ultimately lifting the trophy. This remarkable achievement is the result of months of rigorous and structured training conducted at 41 Assam Rifles under HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles, where players underwent intensive coaching focusing on endurance, match fitness, tactical awareness and seamless team coordination. The victory stands as a testament to the Assam Rifles’ commitment towards excellence in sports, empowering women athletes and fostering a culture of discipline, resilience and teamwork. This historic triumph has brought immense pride and honour to the force and further reinforces Assam Rifles’ stature as a powerhouse in national-level sports.
