Guwahati: Assam delivered one of its strongest performances to date at the Pickleball National Championship held from November 13 to 16, clinching two gold medals and several podium finishes across age categories. The 25-member state contingent competed in the event organised by the Karnataka Pickleball Association under the aegis of the Indian Pickleball Association, recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Sports Authority of India. This year’s championship saw participation from more than 1,100 players across the country.
Assam’s first gold came through a stellar performance by Anangsha Alomyan, who claimed the 30+ Women’s Singles title. She delivered a major upset in the semifinals, defeating top seed Priyanka Mehta of Maharashtra 11–7, before winning the final to secure the national crown.
The state’s second gold was earned in the U16 Girls Doubles event, where the pair of Nayeem Hussain and Prapti Baruah dominated the final with an 11–3 win over Madhya Pradesh’s Aanshi Sanmanvi and Ashriyaa Singh. The same duo, along with Utpalakshee Saikia, guided Assam to a silver medal in the U16 Girls Team Event after strong victories in the group stage.
