Assam Spiritual Society, Chennai to Host Durga Puja 

Guwahati/Chennai: The Assam Spiritual Society, Chennai, is set to bring the vibrant spirit of Assam to Tamil Nadu with a grand Durga Puja celebration from September 28 to October 2, 2025. The five-day festival will be held at Odisha Bhawan, Pallikaranai, and promises to be a colorful blend of devotion, tradition, and culture.

Organizers said the event, open to all, will feature daily rituals and prayers dedicated to Maa Durga, aiming to create an inclusive atmosphere that reflects both Assam’s cultural heritage and Chennai’s diverse community spirit.

In addition to the religious ceremonies, the festival will showcase a variety of cultural events and competitions. On Maha Saptami (September 29) and Maha Ashtami (September 30) evenings, audiences can enjoy performances of songs, dances, and bhajans by local talent. A special cultural program is also planned for Maha Navami (October 1) to mark the festive spirit.

Highlighting the literary and artistic traditions of the Assamese community, the society will release its annual souvenir, Aparajita. The publication will include articles, poems, plays, and paintings centered on the significance of Durga Puja. Contributions in Assamese, English, or Hindi are invited until August 30, 2025, while businesses and individuals may also place advertisements in the souvenir.

Extending an open invitation, the Assam Spiritual Society has called upon devotees, well-wishers, and the wider Chennai community to join the celebrations, seek the blessings of Maa Durga, and experience the joyous festivities.
