GUWAHATI, March 4: Continuing its emphasis on transparent and merit-based governance, the Government of Assam will ceremonially distribute appointment letters to 289 newly recruited candidates at a programme scheduled to be held at the Sri Sri Damodaradeva International Auditorium, located within the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Panjabari, on March 4 at 3:30 PM.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hand over appointment letters to 284 candidates selected through the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 for various state services, along with five Scientific Officers appointed to the Directorate of Forensic Science, Assam.
Among the newly recruited officers, 45 have been inducted into the Assam Civil Service, 20 into the Assam Police Service, 52 into the Assam Finance Service and 51 as Inspectors of Taxes. Additional appointments have been made in departments including Labour, Transport, Industries, Cooperative Societies, Audit Service, Excise, Employment and Urban Administrative Services, signalling a broad-based strengthening of the state’s administrative framework.
The event will also see the issuance of joint mutual transfer orders through the Swagata Satirtha Portal 2.0. A total of 2,238 mutual transfer applications have been approved so far, benefiting 4,476 employees across the state.
With this latest round, the cumulative number of government appointments in Assam has reached 1,58,669. Of these, 1,58,380 appointments had been completed up to February 19, 2026, with an additional 289 being added on March 4.
The development marks another milestone in the state government’s stated commitment to generating over one lakh jobs and ensuring fair, merit-driven employment opportunities for the youth while maintaining transparency in public recruitment.
