A worker from Assam was killed and another injured after a landslide struck the Parsi Parlo Hydro Power Project site in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district on Tuesday, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 3 pm when debris and large boulders came crashing down a hillside following a landslide, burying workers engaged at the project site.
The deceased was identified as Nobin Doley, a resident of Assam’s Dhemaji district. Officials said he died on the spot after being trapped under the debris.
Another worker was rescued from the landslide site and rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Authorities are yet to confirm the identity of the injured worker.
According to the District Information and Public Relations Officer of Kurung Kumey, the project management has initiated a detailed assessment of the affected area, while the district administration has begun the necessary procedures following the incident.
Officials said the exact cause of the landslide is under investigation.
