Assam Youths Stranded in Shillong Seek Government Help Amid Tension

Nagaon, August 22: Several youths from Rupahihat in Assam’s Nagaon district have reportedly been stranded in Shillong after travelling to the Meghalaya capital for medical treatment amid a tense situation in the city.

The youths said they have been forced to remain inside their hotel due to concerns over their safety. They alleged that vehicles bearing Assam registration numbers were being vandalised in parts of Shillong and said they were afraid to venture outside.

The stranded youths have shared videos on social media appealing for help and informing their families about the situation.

They also alleged that hotel room rents had increased amid the prevailing tension, making it difficult for them to extend their stay.

The youths and their families have urged the Assam government to intervene and ensure the safe evacuation of people from Assam stranded in Shillong. They also appealed for arrangements to bring the youths back to Assam safely.
