Guwahati: Assamese expatriate Abhimanyu Talukdar is scheduled to record his statement before a fast-track court in Assam on Wednesday in connection with the case relating to the death of singer Zubeen Garg. Talukdar is among several overseas-based Assamese witnesses being examined by the prosecution in connection with the yacht party in Singapore that Garg attended shortly before his death. His testimony is expected to form part of the evidence being considered by the court.

The proceedings have seen a series of expatriate witnesses appear before the fast-track court. Earlier, Parikshit Sharma and Sushmita Goswami appeared before the court, followed by other witnesses including Pratim Lahkar, Debajyoti Hazarika and Jio Langsat Narzary. Garg died on September 19, 2025, following an incident during a yacht outing in Singapore. He had been in the city in connection with the North East India Festival and was scheduled to perform at the event.
The circumstances surrounding his death subsequently led to investigations and legal proceedings in Assam. The prosecution has been presenting witnesses linked to the events surrounding the yacht outing as part of the ongoing court proceedings. Separately, Singapore authorities had concluded their investigation into Garg’s death. Singapore’s State Coroner had ruled the death an accidental drowning, while police said they found no evidence of foul play. The Assam proceedings are continuing independently under the Indian legal process. Further witness statements are expected to be recorded as the fast-track court continues hearing the case.
