Assam’s Financial Reforms Highlighted at Northeast EAP Workshop in Shillong

Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah participated in a session on Financial Management and Accountability during the North East Externally Aided Projects (EAP) Workshop held in Shillong, Meghalaya.

During the workshop, Assam’s reforms in Public Financial Management (PFM) under the Assam State Public Finance Institutional Reforms (ASPIRe) Project, along with the proposed Assam Green and Sustainable Development Project (AGSDP), were presented as model initiatives for other states in the Northeast.

Expressing satisfaction over the recognition accorded to Assam’s initiatives, Baruah said the reforms had played an important role in strengthening governance, promoting transparency and improving the implementation of development programmes.

He stated that the state government remains committed to building robust financial systems, ensuring greater accountability and enhancing project execution to deliver transparent and citizen-centric governance.

The workshop brought together policymakers, government officials and stakeholders from across the Northeast to deliberate on strategies aimed at improving financial management and ensuring the effective implementation of externally aided development projects.
