Govt Releases Official Rs100 Commemorative Coin
Guwahati: Authorities have issued a stern warning after a fake commemorative stamp of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika began circulating on social media, calling it misleading and unrelated to official releases.
Digboi MLA Suren Phukan condemned the act, saying, “Such actions dishonor one of Assam’s greatest sons. Everyone must refrain from sharing fake content and help preserve his legacy.” The BJP Assam Pradesh unit, CMO Assam, and leaders including Dilip Saikia also urged the public to verify sources before forwarding unverified material.

Released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the coin bears Hazarika’s portrait alongside the Ashoka Pillar, symbolizing his enduring legacy as the “Bard of the Brahmaputra.”
