Guwahati, Jan 18: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president and former Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal was seen singing a popular Assamese song by renowned singer Zubeen Garg during the inauguration of a newly constructed educational institution in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on January 17.
Ajmal formally inaugurated the Mufti Abdul Haque Markaz Academy School at Balapara in the Jogighopa area. Following the inauguration ceremony, the AIUDF chief joined party workers and supporters in rendering Zubeen Garg’s widely loved song “Jodi Jibonor Rongbure Lukabhaku Khele,” creating a lively and participatory atmosphere at the event.
According to those present, Ajmal initially requested a party worker to begin the song. As the gathering gradually joined in, he himself sang along, drawing enthusiastic responses from supporters and attendees.
Addressing the gathering, Ajmal said he enjoys listening to Zubeen Garg’s music and described the singer as a good human being whose songs carry deep meaning and connect with people across communities. He added that Zubeen’s music often inspires him to hum along.
The AIUDF leader also urged the government to recognise Zubeen Garg’s contribution to music and society with an honour higher than the Bharat Ratna, describing the singer as a cultural icon whose influence extends beyond Assam.
