Bajali: Bajali district administration rang in the New Year by personally visiting 234 senior citizens aged 90 and above, conveying heartfelt wishes and presenting traditional Assamese gamosas and greeting cards.
As part of the initiative, officials visited the homes of the elderly to honour their lifelong contributions and acknowledge their role in shaping society. District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Das personally met 102-year-old Brajabala Devi and retired professor Munindra Narayan Goswami at Patacharkuchi. He was accompanied by Nitul Sarma, Inspector of the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department.

The programme also saw participation from Additional Deputy Commissioners Upasana Dutta, Basabi Thakuria, Sonashree Brahma, executive magistrates Pinky Debnath, Samujjal Gogoi, Asfaqe Laskar, and other officials including Manohari Bayan, who visited different areas across the district.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Das said, “The experiences, sacrifices, and wisdom of senior citizens are invaluable assets to society. This initiative is a small gesture of gratitude and respect toward them.” The programme was widely appreciated by residents for its compassionate and meaningful approach to welcoming the New Year.
