Bajrang Dal Unit Files Police Complaint Over Alleged Abusive Facebook Posts Against PM Narendra Modi

Guwahati, Feb 22: Members of the Ramkrishna Nagar district unit of Bajrang Dal have lodged a formal complaint with the Officer-in-Charge of Ramkrishna Nagar Police Station against a local resident over alleged objectionable social media posts targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The complaint, signed by four individuals, names Bilal Ahmed, who operates a Facebook account under the profile name “Gym Vlogs,” and provides his contact details. The complainants alleged that certain posts published from the account were highly objectionable, abusive and disrespectful towards the Prime Minister. They further claimed that the content had the potential to create misunderstanding, disturb communal harmony and disrupt public peace.

While the letter did not specify particular posts, it described the content as derogatory in nature and stated that it had hurt the sentiments of many citizens. The signatories informed the police that they were willing to submit screenshots and other digital evidence to support their allegations during the course of any inquiry.

The complainants acknowledged the constitutional right to freedom of expression, noting that every individual is entitled to voice opinions in a democratic country. However, they argued that the use of abusive or inflammatory language against a constitutional authority on social media platforms was inappropriate and could amount to a legal violation.

In their petition, the group requested that the police verify the authenticity of the posts in question and initiate action under relevant provisions of law if deemed necessary.
