Sixteen Bangladeshi Nationals Pushed Back After Illegal Entry into Assam

In a firm action against cross-border infiltration, Assam authorities have pushed back sixteen Bangladeshi nationals who allegedly entered the state illegally through an unfenced border stretch. Officials said the group had crossed the international boundary with “nefarious intentions” and were intercepted following swift intelligence-based operations.

According to police sources, the individuals entered Assam without valid travel documents and were moving under suspicious circumstances. Acting on credible inputs, law enforcement teams conducted a coordinated operation in a border-adjacent area and successfully pushed all sixteen individuals back across the border.

Preliminary interrogation indicated that the group might be linked to a broader network involved in organised infiltration. Police are now working to trace their route and identify local facilitators who may have assisted them.

Authorities have since intensified security and border patrols along vulnerable stretches to prevent further illegal entry. Officials have reiterated that Assam’s security agencies remain fully alert to thwart any activity that could threaten the peace, stability, and demographic balance of the state.
