Bank Employees Strike Across India, Demand Five-Day Working Week

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 11: Bank employees across the country observed a strike on Friday demanding a five-day working week, with employees in Assam’s Kokrajhar also staging a protest.

In Kokrajhar town, bank employees took out a protest rally from the main branch of the State Bank of India to the Central Bank.

The employees demanded that banks remain closed for two days each week and operate for only five days.

They said they would observe another three-day strike on September 28, 29 and 30 if the government failed to address their demands.

The employees warned that banking services across the country would be affected during the proposed three-day strike.
