Barpeta: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Barpeta has announced that the 3rd National Lok Adalat of the year will be conducted on September 13 at the District & Sessions Judge’s Court premises, MACT, and Family Court from 10 AM onwards. In preparation for the event, banks have already resolved objections related to loans, electricity bills, and telephone service bills with BSNL and APDCL, paving the way for smoother settlements during the Adalat. The National Lok Adalat, held under the Legal Services Authorities Act, is a key initiative aimed at ensuring speedy and amicable resolution of disputes. It provides an alternative mechanism where cases—ranging from civil and family disputes to motor accident claims—are settled through mutual consent between parties, thus avoiding lengthy court procedures. The Barpeta DLSA has been actively making arrangements for the program, which is expected to see wide participation from residents, legal professionals, and government representatives. Organizers emphasized that National Lok Adalats have historically played a pivotal role in reducing the mounting burden on courts while promoting access to justice, especially for citizens facing financial or procedural barriers in traditional litigation. Citizens of Barpeta are encouraged to take part and use this opportunity to resolve disputes efficiently. The event will also feature public awareness drives on legal rights and procedures to strengthen people’s understanding of the judicial system. Importantly, participation in the Lok Adalat is free of cost, with emphasis on amicable settlements through dialogue. The upcoming 3rd National Lok Adalat is expected to continue the tradition of delivering accessible justice while fostering legal awareness among the people of Barpeta district.
