New Delhi : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has remained tight-lipped over the future of veteran stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as Team India begins preparations for the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup. Amid growing speculation over whether the two stalwarts will feature in India’s World Cup plans, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia refused to disclose any details regarding discussions on the team’s long-term roadmap. He stated that matters related to squad planning and player selection are internal issues and are not meant for public discussion.

The uncertainty surrounding Kohli and Rohit’s future has intensified since India’s triumph in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Both players have expressed their desire to continue playing ODI cricket, but the board has not provided any indication about their role in the next World Cup cycle.
