Bajali: Bhawanipur Anchalik College celebrated International Women’s Day on Sunday with a virtual programme organised by the Women Cell of the college under the theme “Give to Gain.” The event was conducted through the Google Meet platform and saw active participation from teachers and students.
Dr. Preeti Rekha Dutta, Assistant Professor of BHB College, joined the programme as the Chief Guest and delivered a talk on “Women’s Self-Worth in the Modern World: Gender Equality and Social Change.” Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dutta highlighted that the significance of International Women’s Day goes beyond a single day of observance. She stressed that women must be given equal respect, opportunities, and participation in every sphere of life on a daily basis. She also acknowledged the struggles and contributions of women who fought tirelessly for women’s rights in the past, making way for the opportunities and policies available today.

The programme was hosted by Trishna Deka, Assistant Professor and Secretary of the Women Cell. Almost all the Faculty members including Dr. Violina Patowary, Assistant Professor and President of the Women Cell; Dr. Niva Choudhury, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy; and Dr. Banasmita Sarma, Assistant Professor of the Department of Political Science were present at the session.
Students of the college also joined the session and interacted during the programme, which aimed to raise awareness about women’s empowerment and highlight the role of women in shaping society. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Trishnakhi Swargiari, Assistant Professor of the Zoology Department.
