BHB College Hosts Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse
Bajali: An awareness programme on “Drug Abuse and its Ill Effects” was held at B.H.B. College, Sarupeta, on Wednesday, aiming to sensitize students about the growing menace of substance abuse and its harmful impact on individuals and society. The event was organized by Bajali Rural Advancement Society in collaboration with the Anti-Tobacco Cell and IQAC of the college. The programme was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Nayan Jyoti Das, who underlined the importance of creating a drug-free campus and urged students to lead a healthy lifestyle while taking the role of change-makers in society. Distinguished guests present at the occasion included Additional SP (HQ) Bajali, Trinayan Bhuyan APS, Dy. SP (HQ) Bajali, Bhaskar Nath, Vice-Principal Neetu Khanduri Sharma, Dr. Dipti Kalita, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Dipul Talukdar, and other faculty members. Counsellor Neetu Khanduri Sharma spoke on the psychological, physical, and social consequences of drug addiction, emphasizing early identification, counseling, and rehabilitation as vital measures to tackle the issue. The programme featured interactive sessions, poster presentations, and a short skit performed by students to highlight the dangers of drug abuse. Testimonials from recovered individuals also made a lasting impression on the audience. Programme convenor Sanjay Boro extended gratitude to all guests, faculty members, and students for their support. The event concluded with a collective pledge by participants to strive towards building a drug-free society.
