Bilgaro X 2025 began with high energy in Tura today as the flagship motorsport event of the Garo Hills entered its landmark tenth edition. The rally was flagged off at 7:30 a.m. at Rongkon Bridge by Adamkid M. Sangma, Advisor of the Tura Motor Sports Club (TMSC), after which competitors proceeded to the Hill Climb stage at Aguraggre near Asanang.
This year’s edition drew a total of 33 drivers from Jowai, Shillong, Assam, Garo Hills, Nagaland and several regions across mainland India, reflecting the growing reputation of the event across the Northeast and beyond. The arrival of two esteemed rally drivers, Chiborlang Walnang from Jowai and Sandeep Sharma from Delhi, added further prominence to the competition.
A notable highlight of the rally was the participation of Noche Aranchiimiksa Sangma, the only woman driver from Tura. With prior rally experience outside the Garo Hills, her debut at Bilgaro attracted wide appreciation for encouraging women’s involvement in the sport.
Bilgaro X 2025 is divided into three competition categories—SUV, Rookie and Car—providing varied challenges for motorsport enthusiasts. The opening day featured the demanding Hill Climb, a five-kilometre ascent marked by difficult terrain, sharp turns and steep gradients that tested both driving skill and endurance.
The competition will continue tomorrow with the Sprint Rally at Dodinangre Asibra, where all participants will compete on a fast and technical track. The event will conclude with a prize distribution ceremony at Green Heaven, followed by a performance by CM-MGMP.
This year also marks the return of a national-level rally driver to the Garo Hills after nearly ten years, adding special significance to the edition. Organised by the Tura Motor Sports Club since 2015, Bilgaro has grown into one of Meghalaya’s leading motorsport events, and the 2025 edition stands as a celebration of its ten-year journey and expanding influence within the motorsport community.
